Innovation in the Month of Rajab

Recently, I was reading an email that contained objectionable information. This lengthy email was all about what we as believers “should” be doing in the month of Rajab, and the benefits that are expected if these deeds, prayers, & voluntary acts are done correctly. The writer went into detail on which du’as to recite, what time to recite them, the days of the month we should be fasting, and how many extra raka’ah (rounds of obligatory movements) of salaah (prayer) we should be doing. This was my first time ever hearing of such a thing. I have read no words from The Book of Allah (The Mighty & Merciful) nor have I come across any authentic hadeeth that instruct the believers to perform certain acts during the month of Rajab. The imam at the masjid (mosque) had not mentioned these things prior to the month of Rajab, so I skeptically questioned and thoroughly researched the information before accepting it as truth.
